Community Service

Oklahoma City Ad Club is a reflection on the city itself. Our club succeeds when everyone around us succeeds, which is why we work to improve our surroundings in various ways. The club works to cultivate economic development, helping our local businesses grow. We raise the standard of living in Oklahoma City by raising our standards as individuals. We never settle for mediocre, and we don’t expect anyone else to, either.

Our past community service endeavors have included project work and full-on ad campaigns for non-profits, and most recently, a task force that assists Oklahoma City’s mayor in developing a comprehensive economic development strategy for Oklahoma City.

2010-2011 projects

The Oklahoma City Ad Club has committed to assisting in public service projects for Suited For Success and Rethread OKC.

Please consider helping with each of these projects.

Suited for Success

Suited For Success provides professional clothing and career development services to low-income women who have completed a job training or job readiness program and are actively seeking employment.  These are some expressed needs:

• Suited for Success is always taking donations of women's business clothing.
• A new design for their brochure and a new logo design. (Tom Searls has said he will see about working on the brochure/logo design for them.)
• A reusable bag.  The director of Suited for Success said that they would like to offer some type of bag (reusable, plastic, paper) that would be what they would send their clients away with containing their business clothes and accessories, instead of just an old Wal-mart bag.  She had an idea of what she wanted the bag to say:   This bag is filled with Hope, Determination, Opportunity.   It was in the form of a list that had checked boxes next to each.  If anyone within the membership of the club would be willing to take on the reusable bag part of this project, please email info@okcadclub.com and indicate your interest.

Rethread OKC

Rethread OKC is an organization within the Plaza District that has "seasonal stores" for children/families within the community, usually one every quarter.  About a week prior to the "store" they canvas the neighborhoods to the north and south of their Convergence store front location.  The last store they had was a "Shoe Store" where they gave out brand new shoes to children in the community.  Their next store will be a "Coat Store" on Sat., Oct. 16.  Here are some expressed needs:

• They really need gently used and new children's coats for this store.
• They are also taking $10 donations on their website that they will then use to go and buy new coats for this upcoming store.
