STAPLEGUN is moving quickly to fill the position of full-time proofreader. This person will ensure quality control for all print, broadcast and interactive media. The ideal candidate is familiar with the general flow of an advertising agency, has an acute attention to detail, is organized, and works well under pressure.

Skills Required:
• Degree in English, linguistics, public relations, or related field
• Strong written, verbal, visual, grammar and punctuation skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Well-developed organizational skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and focus in a sometimes-chaotic environment
• Experience in a proofreading/copy editing capacity a plus
• Ad agency experience a plus

Job Responsibilities:
• Proofread all print, broadcast, and interactive pieces, and provide any necessary corrections. We should clarify here that “proofreading” includes checking for misspelled words, incorrect grammar, and misused punctuation, but also fact-checking and ensuring all other vital information is included. This position is also responsible for reviewing design layouts to be certain crop marks do no cut off words or graphics, spacing and graphic styles are consistent throughout, and all of the client’s standards, including logos and trademarks, are met.
• Clearly communicate with artists and account service reps to make sure edits are understood and valid.
• Prioritize workload to ensure all deadlines are met.
• Be familiar with AP style and verify that each piece meets those standards.
• Transcribe audio or video as needed.
• Assist in the agency routing process.
