Location: Jim Thorpe Museum & Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame, 4040 N Lincoln Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73105

Meet Ed Cantu:

Hispanics were first counted in the 1970 Census as a unique ethnic subgroup. What tied us together, and often separated us from the rest of the US, were characteristics centered on language, culture, youth and dynamic growth. Since that initial counting, Hispanics have been discovered, studied, targeted and emulated. And, every decade has been declared, “The Decade of the Hispanic”.

Today, Hispanics are 55 million strong, approaching 20% of the total population. Hispanics are responsible for close to 50% of annual population growth. And, socio-economic gaps between Hispanics and non-Hispanic Whites are rapidly closing, from education and HH income to entrepreneurship and the political arena. Today, leaders in every business industry place the Hispanic market high on their priority list, looking to the segment for growth in sales, workforce development and basically, a future. Will the 20’s truly be the decade of the Hispanic? Are we finally there yet?
